APPOINTMENT PROTOCOL
Effective March 26, 2022, the City & County of Honolulu will no longer have the indoor mask mandate. At Hawaii Orthodontist we believe that correct and consistent mask use remains a critical tool to prevent the spread of COVID-19 so while we are not requiring the use of a mask we welcome you to wear your mask while inside the office.
Masks and other appropriate PPE will remain required for all staff members and we will continue to practice universal infection control precautions and fog the office and all touch surfaces with HOCL throughout the day. We will also continue to maintain surgically clean air through the use of our medical grade HEPA/UV air purifiers.
If the patient has any cold or COVID-19 symptoms or has been in close contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID-19, we kindly ask that you call us to reschedule the appointment for the safety of other patients and our staff.
Thank you!

Effective December 1, 2021, City & County of Honolulu has moved on to the Safe O’ahu Response Plan (formerly Honolulu’s Tier System) which will allow more flexible operations for businesses, including Hawaii Orthodontist. This allows our office to operate at 100% capacity, but we would like to continue to exercise caution and kindly ask parents of patients to please wait in the hallways or their cars during the appointment at this time. Masks are still required while in the office except when the patient is physically seated in the clinic chair with their assistant or Doctor.
Upon entering the office, patients will be required to check their temperature on a touchless standing thermal scanner and sanitize their hands before and after checking in on the laptop.

To our valued patients, we all face this unprecedented event of COVID-19, we have been looking at ways to keep our patients and staff as safe as possible when we resume our normal business hours. We will be implementing several changes to our office and wanted to make you aware of them prior to your next visit. We realize that some of these changes may be inconvenient for you, but we feel they are necessary in order to keep everyone
Strict infection-control procedures regarding instrumentation have always been, and will continue to be, followed according to the guidelines of ADA, HDA, OSHA, and the CDC. This includes appropriate PPE worn by all of our team members as well as consistent surface disinfection of all exposed surfaces throughout the day.
Our NEW WAITING ROOM will be either in the spacious hallway or in the comfort of your own safe car. :O) Only patients will be allowed to enter the office unless parental or assisted accompaniment is necessary.
Anyone entering the office will be required to have their temperature taken, wear a mask, and wash their hands.
Upon your arrival, we will also screen each patient with a questionnaire to confirm you are symptom free, have not knowingly been exposed to COVID-19, and have not recently traveled. Anyone with a temperature of 99 degrees and above will be recommended to see their physician for further evaluation and will not be allowed to enter the office.
Doctors and team will be held to the same high standards with daily temperature screenings and assessments.
Aerosol procedures will be kept minimal and controlled within the office environment.
Brushing stations will be closed; please brush or have your child brush his or her teeth before arriving at the office.
GREAT NEWS AND MOST EXCITINGLY! All of our offices are now equipped with SCA Dental/Medical Grade Air Purifiers with UV-C germicidal technology to provide our patients and team with surgically clean air.
We look forward to the day when we will be able to ease some of these restrictions, but until then, please know that we are only making these changes with your safety in mind. Please reach out to us if you have any concerns or suggestions in how we can improve our service. Take care and stay safe!
